BAPTISM

Baptism is the first sacrament of Christian initiation — welcoming a child or adult into new life in Christ, freeing them from original sin, and making them part of God’s family and our parish community. At Divine Mercy Parish, Wallsend & Shortland, we are here to guide and support you every step of the way.

OPEN TO ALL AGES

Infants, children and adults are all warmly welcomed to receive the Sacrament of Baptism.

First Holy Communion is the second sacrament of Christian initiation — when a child receives the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist for the very first time. It’s a joyful milestone in a child’s faith journey, prepared for through our parish’s sacramental program. At Divine Mercy Parish, Wallsend & Shortland, we are here to walk with your family every step of the way.

FOR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN

Typically prepared for from Year 3 (around age 8), through our parish’s sacramental preparation program.

Children and families are guided through preparation sessions in the lead-up to the celebration.
