Sharing in the Mission Through Generous Stewardship

The Planned Giving Program is an important way in which parishioners can share in the ongoing life and mission of Divine Mercy Parish Wallsend–Shortland. It is more than simply making a financial contribution; it is an expression of faith, belonging and stewardship. Through regular giving, parishioners help ensure that our community has the resources needed to worship, serve, maintain our churches and facilities, support pastoral ministries, and plan confidently for the future.

Why Regular Giving Matters

Regular planned giving is particularly valuable because it provides the parish with a reliable and predictable source of income. Like every household, our parish has continuing expenses, including insurance, utilities, maintenance and repairs, administration, liturgical needs, pastoral programs and the upkeep of our properties at Wallsend and Shortland. A stable level of regular giving enables the Parish Finance Council and Parish Administrator to budget responsibly, meet these commitments and undertake necessary projects without relying solely on occasional appeals.

Parishioners are encouraged to participate according to their individual circumstances and capacity. Planned Giving is not about the size of a contribution; rather, it is about making a regular and intentional commitment to support the parish we belong to. Every contribution—large or small—is valued and, when combined with the generosity of others, makes a significant difference.

How to Give

Contributions can be made through the available parish giving methods, including regular electronic transfer/direct giving, Planned Giving envelopes, EFTPOS and other approved parish donation options. Parishioners may choose the method that is most convenient for them. The Parish Office can assist anyone wishing to commence, change or obtain further information about their Planned Giving arrangements.

A Shared Responsibility

Above all, Planned Giving reminds us that our parish belongs to all of us and its mission is a shared responsibility. The generosity of parishioners today enables Divine Mercy Parish to continue proclaiming the Gospel, celebrating the Sacraments, caring for people, supporting families and young people, and preserving our parish facilities for future generations.

We sincerely thank all who already contribute faithfully to our parish and warmly invite those who are not yet participating to consider joining the Planned Giving Program. Together, through prayer, participation and generous stewardship, we can continue building a welcoming, vibrant and sustainable Divine Mercy Parish for today and for the future.
